Below is the initial sketch of the Dragon Monster Jam truck. The final approved sketch is surrounded by earlier thumbnails of the custom dragon concept. This artwork was later used for a limited edition print that was auctioned off at the Monster Jam World Finals with the proceeds going to charity.
The sketch was then translated into the template below. This Monster Jam truck is a full decal wrap so precise measurements of the unique body were essential to ensure the graphics fit correctly. Aside from the full wrap this body also features 3D attachments including the nostrils, spikes, horns and back wings. The side window eye's are displayed during Monster Jam pit parties but are removed for show performance to maximize driver visibility.
Once the template has been completed the above render was created to further illustrate how the decal wrap would span the entire body.
While the logos on the side of the trucks are intentionally subdued within the fire, this 'stand alone' logo was created to be a bit more legible. This logo is used for branding and merchandising purposes.
The driver and the crew all must look the part of a Monster Jam truck's theme. This is the front and back design of a sublimated print worn by the crew members.
Once the truck is complete the artwork is used to create assets to be included in the licensing program. In this case the phrase and head were provided together and individually.
The custom shaped Dragon was an evolution from an earlier concept. Spitfire debuted at the Monster Jam World Finals in Las Vegas. This Corvette body was adorned with Dragon imagery and elements.
These photos showcase the truck after it's debut run so the body is a bit damaged.
The truck was brought back after it's debut under the new name of 'Dragon's Breath.'
